Six years ago, Rickshaws was nothing but a 200-year-old Portuguese building in complete disrepair and dream to open a thriving business that would positively impact the lives of its employees as well as the community at large. After some initial construction, significant market research, team building, menu testing and a lot of elbow grease, Rickshaw’s restaurant opened our doors on October of 2015. Adding to the challenge, not one of our employees had any experience in food service or the hospitality industry or even worked a job for that matter.
Since those colorful days in a tiny kitchen with unskilled labor, Rickshaws has grown to employ 18 local individuals, has been recognized as one of the top 10 restaurants in Mozambique and now includes a beautiful boutique hotel. Our business has earned a national reputation for quality customer service, excellent cuisine and luxury guest rooms. We specialize in weddings, corporate events, romantic getaways and family vacations.
